How to Reset Samsung Refrigerator Ice Maker – French Door & Bottom Mount Models

  • Samsung ice maker not filling with water
  • No or low ice production

Samsung French Door Refrigerator Ice Maker Reset

Only reset your ice maker if you are experiencing no ice production or unusually low ice production. Additionally, before performing a reset, make sure your ice maker isn’t turned off. If the ice maker was turned off, turn it back on and wait 24 hours before determining if you still need to reset Samsung refrigerator ice maker.

There are Samsung ice maker reset instructions for ice makers without a dispenser or having two ice makers 9Type 1), and heated trays (Type 2).

Type 1 – For models without a dispenser on the door or with two ice makers:

Step #1 Locate Ice Maker 

Pull open the freezer and look in the back left corner along the ceiling. Depending on your model, the ice maker may/may not have a cover on it. The ice maker looks like a white box attached to the ceiling of the freezer.

Step #2 Locate Reset Button

The reset button, also called the test switch, is past the cover on the front of the ice maker, and underneath the motor housing. Press and hold the reset button (you’ll need to apply some pressure here) until you hear the ice tray motor begin to torque, then release.

Step #3 Wait 24 Hours

Wait a full 24 hours to see the effects when you reset Samsung refrigerator ice maker. *Note: Do not reset your ice maker more than once every 24 hours!

Type 2 – For models with a heated tray:

Step #1 Locate Ice Bucket

Open the left refrigerator door and locate the ice bucket in the upper left corner. Grasp the latch release on the right side of the bucket, squeeze to release, and pull the bucket out.

Step #2 Locate Reset Button

The reset button is on the right side of the ice maker – it is a clear, rectangular, rubber button. Press and hold the reset button.

  • For 2010 models or newer: You will hear a chime when the reset begins.
  • For 2009 or older: Press and hold the reset button for a full 10 seconds.
  • Reinsert the ice bucket completely.

Samsung Bottom Mount Refrigerator Ice Maker Reset

Step #1 Locate Ice Maker
